Jan Maghinay Padios is a scholar and writer whose work has been published by Cultural Studies, Indiana Review, The Center for Art & Thought, Zócalo Public Square, and the Kunsthall Trondheim. Her first academic book, A Nation on the Line: Call Centers as Postcolonial Predicaments in the Philippines was published by Duke University Press in April 2018. Jan has a BA in Architecture from Columbia University, an MA and PhD in American Studies from New York University, and is currently an MFA student at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park and currently visiting faculty in the Humanities and Media Studies Program at Pratt Institute. Jan is working on a hybrid, illustrated autobiographical book called How to Build a Home.
